Tillandsia xerographica
Tillandsia xerographica
Tillandsia xerographica, often called the "King of Air Plants," is a slow-growing epiphyte with silvery-gray, recurved leaves forming a striking rosette. Mature plants may produce a dramatic, tall flower spike with clusters of colorful bracts and blooms.
Grow Zone: Best suited for USDA Zones 9–11 when grown outdoors. Can be grown indoors year-round in all zones with proper care.
Height and Width: Typically 6–24 inches across, with individual leaves reaching over 2 feet in length.
Uses: Popular in modern interior décor, terrariums, mounted displays, and as a focal point in xeriscaping or tropical arrangements.
Native Range: Native to dry forests and semi-arid regions of Central America, including Guatemala, El Salvador, and Mexico.
Sun Requirements: Prefers bright, indirect light or filtered sun. Can tolerate some direct morning sun but should be protected from harsh afternoon sun.
Water Requirements: Absorbs moisture through its leaves. Mist lightly 2–3 times a week or soak in water for 20–30 minutes every 2–3 weeks, allowing the plant to dry completely before returning to its display. Requires good air circulation to prevent rot.
