Supertunia Bubblegum Vista

Supertunia Bubblegum Vista

Plant name: Supertunia Bubblegum Vista

Scientific name: Petunia hybrid ‘Supertunia Bubblegum Vista’

Plant description:
Supertunia Bubblegum Vista is a vigorous, spreading petunia bred for continuous flowering and strong landscape performance. This Proven Winners selection forms a dense, mounded to trailing plant with exceptional branching and uniform growth. It is widely used for large-scale color displays due to its ability to fill space quickly and maintain bloom coverage throughout the growing season.

Flower description:
Medium-sized blooms in clear, bright pink blanket the plant from late spring until frost. Flowers are self-cleaning, eliminating the need for deadheading. The consistent bubblegum-pink color remains strong even during extended warm weather.

Leaf description:
Leaves are oval, slightly sticky, and medium green. Foliage grows densely along spreading stems, creating a full canopy that supports heavy flowering without becoming sparse.

Deciduous or evergreen:
Grown as an annual in most climates; perennial in frost-free regions

USDA grow zones:
USDA Zones 10–11 as a perennial; grown as an annual in all zones

Mature height and width:
Typically 12–24 inches tall and spreading 24–36 inches or more, depending on growing conditions

Landscape uses:
Suitable for mass plantings, large containers, hanging baskets, and landscape beds. Effective for filling expansive areas with uniform color and for spilling over walls or raised planters. Its vigorous growth makes it ideal for high-impact seasonal displays.

Native range:
Hybrid derived from South American petunia species; ‘Supertunia Bubblegum Vista’ is a cultivated selection

Sun exposure:
Full sun is required for maximum bloom production and compact growth. Reduced light can result in fewer flowers and elongated stems.

Water requirements:
Provide consistent moisture, especially in containers. Soil should remain evenly moist but well-drained. Avoid prolonged dry periods, which can reduce flowering.

Pests and problems:
Generally low maintenance. May occasionally experience aphids, spider mites, or caterpillars. Proper spacing and good drainage reduce the risk of root and fungal issues.

Heat and sun tolerance:
Strong tolerance of heat and direct sunlight. Maintains flowering performance through warm summer conditions when provided adequate moisture and nutrition.

Cold tolerance:
Sensitive to frost. Growth slows in cool temperatures, and freezing conditions will kill the plant.

Growing tips:
Plant in fertile, well-drained soil and provide adequate spacing for spreading. Regular feeding with a balanced or bloom-focused fertilizer supports continuous flowering. Trim lightly mid-season if growth becomes overly long to refresh the plant and encourage new branching. Consistent watering and proper nutrition are key to maintaining dense coverage and strong color throughout the season.
