Sunpatiens "Compact White" PP# 24320

Sunpatiens "Compact White" PP# 24320

Plant name: SunPatiens® ‘Compact White’ PP#24320
Scientific name: Impatiens hawkeri hybrid ‘Compact White’ PP#24320

Plant description:
SunPatiens® ‘Compact White’ is a dense, well-branched impatiens hybrid selected for strong landscape performance and uniform growth. It forms a tidy, rounded mound with sturdy stems that resist stretching, making it suitable for containers, borders, and mass plantings. This variety offers reliable flowering and consistent structure, providing season-long color with minimal maintenance.

Flower description:
Bright white, flat-faced blooms are produced continuously, creating a clean, luminous appearance in mixed plantings and monochromatic designs. The flowers are large and evenly spaced across the plant, maintaining a polished look without frequent grooming. Continuous bloom keeps displays fresh throughout the growing season.

Leaf description:
Leaves are elongated with lightly serrated edges and a smooth surface. Medium green foliage provides contrast against the white flowers and remains full and attractive during extended periods of growth.

Deciduous or evergreen:
Tender perennial in warm climates; commonly grown as a seasonal annual in regions with freezing temperatures.

USDA grow zones:
USDA Zones 10–11 as a perennial; cultivated as an annual elsewhere.

Mature height and width:
14–24 inches tall and 14–24 inches wide, forming a compact, mounded shape.

Landscape uses:
Effective for container arrangements, hanging baskets, shaded borders, and large-scale bedding displays. The neutral white flowers pair easily with bold colors and textured foliage, making this variety useful for layered landscape designs and formal plantings.

Native range:
Hybrid developed from New Guinea impatiens species native to Southeast Asia and surrounding regions.

Sun exposure:
Full sun to partial shade. Best flowering occurs with bright light, while some afternoon protection helps maintain foliage quality in hot environments.

Water requirements:
Prefers consistently moist, well-drained soil. Even watering supports continuous blooming and prevents wilting. Avoid overly saturated conditions that may stress roots.

Pests and problems:
Generally resilient but may occasionally attract aphids, mites, or thrips. Poor air circulation and excess moisture can contribute to fungal issues. Healthy soil and proper spacing help minimize common problems.

Heat and sun tolerance:
Bred for improved performance in warm and sunny conditions compared to traditional impatiens. Maintains structure and flower production when provided with adequate moisture and airflow.

Cold tolerance:
Not tolerant of frost or extended freezing conditions. Plants may decline quickly when exposed to cold temperatures.

Growing tips:
Plant in nutrient-rich, well-drained soil amended with organic matter to encourage steady growth. Apply a slow-release fertilizer at planting to support continuous flowering, and supplement lightly during active growth if needed. Position plants where light levels remain consistent to prevent uneven stretching. Regular watering and moderate feeding help maintain a dense canopy and a steady display of clean white blooms without the need for deadheading.
