Sanseveria "Bird's Nest"

Sanseveria "Bird's Nest"

Sansevieria ‘Bird’s Nest’ (Sansevieria trifasciata var. hahnii)

Plant Description:
Sansevieria ‘Bird’s Nest’ is a compact, rosette-forming succulent with short, broad, dark green leaves marked with lighter horizontal banding. The leaves grow in a circular pattern, creating a low, nest-like shape. It is slow-growing, easy to care for, and valued for its tidy, architectural appearance.

Grow Zone:
Best grown outdoors year-round in USDA Zones 10–12. In cooler zones, it is commonly grown indoors as a houseplant due to its tolerance for low light and minimal care requirements.

Height and Width:
Typically grows 6–8 inches tall and 6–12 inches wide, remaining compact and low to the ground.

Uses:
Ideal as a tabletop or shelf plant indoors and as an accent in dish gardens, terrariums, and small containers. Outdoors in warm climates, it is suitable for borders, rock gardens, and groundcover plantings in shaded or partially shaded areas. Its resilience and air-purifying qualities make it a popular choice for homes and offices.

Native Range:
Derived from Sansevieria species native to tropical West Africa, where they grow in dry, open habitats.

Sun and Water Requirements:
Thrives in bright, indirect light but tolerates low light and partial shade. Prefers well-draining soil and infrequent watering, allowing the soil to dry completely between waterings. Overwatering must be avoided to prevent root rot. It is drought-tolerant and thrives in warm, dry conditions.
