Plant Description

Red clover (Trifolium pratense) isa short-lived perennial plant that can grow to be 8–31 in tall.It has hollow, hairy stems and branches, trifoliate leaves, and a deep taproot. Native Americans used red clover to treat skin, lung, nervous, and reproductive system diseases. It was also used to treat whooping cough, gout, cancer, constipation, rheumatism, liver problems, and gall bladder problems. In the 1930s, red clover blossoms became commercially popular in the United States when combined with other herbs.
