Pothos 'Marble Queen' (_Epipremnum aureum 'Marble Queen'_) is a popular and attractive evergreen vine known for its striking variegated leaves. The heart-shaped leaves display a beautiful mix of creamy white and green marbling, making it a favorite among indoor plant enthusiasts. This versatile and low-maintenance plant is excellent for beginners and can be grown in hanging baskets, trained to climb supports, or allowed to trail gracefully from shelves and containers.

Grow Zone:

- USDA Hardiness Zones: 10-12 (outdoors)

  - In most regions, 'Marble Queen' is grown as an indoor houseplant.

  - Can be placed outdoors during warm months in temperate climates but should be brought indoors before temperatures drop below 50°F (10°C).

Height and Width:

- Height: When grown indoors, vines can reach lengths of 6 to 10 feet (1.8 to 3 meters) or more, depending on support and pruning.

- Width: The plant's spread depends on growth habit and pruning but generally fills out to 2 to 3 feet (0.6 to 0.9 meters) in width.

Uses:

- Indoor Decoration: Ideal for adding greenery and aesthetic appeal to homes, offices, and public spaces.

- Air Purification: Known for its ability to purify air by removing toxins such as formaldehyde and benzene.

- Hanging Baskets: Perfect for hanging displays due to its trailing habit.

- Climbing Features: Can be trained to climb moss poles, trellises, or walls for vertical interest.

- Terrariums and Vivariums: Suitable for inclusion in large terrariums or tropical-themed enclosures.

Native Range:

- Originally native to the tropical regions of the Solomon Islands in the South Pacific.

- Has naturalized in various tropical and subtropical regions around the world due to its hardiness and adaptability.

Light:

- Bright, Indirect Light: Prefers bright, indirect sunlight to maintain vibrant variegation.

- Tolerates Low Light: Can survive in low-light conditions, but leaves may lose some variegation and growth may slow.

- Avoid Direct Sunlight: Direct sun can scorch the leaves and cause discoloration.

Soil:

- Well-Draining Potting Mix: Use a standard houseplant potting soil amended with perlite or sand to improve drainage.

- pH Preference: Slightly acidic to neutral soil (pH 6.1 to 6.5) is ideal.

Watering:

- Moderate Watering: Allow the top 1-2 inches (2.5-5 cm) of soil to dry out between waterings.

- Avoid Overwatering: Excess water can lead to root rot; ensure pots have drainage holes.

- Humidity: Thrives in average indoor humidity but appreciates higher humidity levels. Mist occasionally or use a humidifier in dry environments.

Temperature:

- Optimal Range: 65°F to 85°F (18°C to 29°C).

- Sensitive to Cold: Protect from temperatures below 50°F (10°C) and avoid cold drafts.

Fertilization:

- Growing Season: Feed with a balanced, water-soluble fertilizer every 4-6 weeks during spring and summer.

- Dormant Season: Reduce or stop fertilizing in fall and winter when growth slows.

Pruning:

- Encourage Bushiness: Regularly prune stems to promote fuller, bushier growth and control length.

- Remove Damaged Leaves: Trim away yellowing or damaged leaves to maintain appearance and plant health.

- Use Clean Tools: Always use clean, sharp scissors or pruning shears to prevent disease spread.

Pests & Diseases:

- Common Pests: May occasionally attract pests like mealybugs, spider mites, and scale insects.

  - Treatment: Wipe leaves with a solution of water and mild soap or use insecticidal soap/neem oil as needed.

- Diseases: Overwatering can cause root rot and fungal issues.

 - Prevention: Ensure proper drainage and avoid waterlogged soil.

Toxicity:

- To Pets and Humans: Contains calcium oxalate crystals, which can be toxic if ingested. Keep out of reach of children and pets, and wear gloves when handling if you have sensitive skin.

Tips for Success:

- Rotate Plant: Turn the plant periodically to ensure even growth and exposure to light.

- Support Structures: Provide moss poles or trellises if you prefer a climbing growth habit.

- Cleaning Leaves: Wipe leaves occasionally to remove dust and improve photosynthesis.
