Plant Description:
The 'Peggy Martin' rose, also known as the Katrina Rose, is a nearly thornless, vigorous climbing rose with clusters of small, pink, semi-double flowers. It blooms prolifically in spring and fall, with occasional blooms through summer. This rose became famous for surviving weeks of saltwater flooding during Hurricane Katrina, making it a symbol of resilience.

• Height: 10 to 15 feet (can reach up to 20 feet in ideal conditions)

Uses:

Native Range:
A cultivated hybrid with unknown exact parentage, discovered in Louisiana and adapted to the southern U.S. climate.

Growing Conditions:

• Light: Full sun (6+ hours daily) for best flowering
• Soil: Well-draining, loamy soil enriched with organic matter
• Water: Regular watering, especially during dry spells, but avoid waterlogged conditions
• Maintenance:
  • Prune after spring flowering to maintain shape and encourage reblooming
  • Fertilize in early spring and midsummer with a balanced rose fertilizer
  • Mulch to conserve moisture and suppress weeds
