The "Medora" Angel Wing Begonia, also known simply as Angel Wing Begonia 'Medora', is a popular cultivar of Begonia coccinea.

Appearance:
1. Leaves: The leaves of the Medora begonia are distinctive and angel-shaped, hence the common name "Angel Wing." They are typically glossy green with silver markings or veins.
2. Flowers: "Medora" Angel Wing Begonia produces clusters of pink flowers that resemble small lanterns, blooming from spring to fall.

Care Requirements:
1. Light: Thrives in bright, indirect light. Protect from direct sunlight, which can scorch the leaves.
2. Temperature: Prefers temperatures between 65-75°F (18-24°C). Avoid cold drafts.
3. Watering: Keep soil evenly moist but not waterlogged. Allow the top inch of soil to dry out between waterings.
4. Humidity: Appreciates high humidity levels. Mist the leaves occasionally, especially in dry indoor environments.
5. Soil: Well-draining potting mix that retains moisture.
6. Fertilizer: Feed monthly with a balanced, water-soluble fertilizer during the growing season (spring and summer).

Maintenance:
1. Pruning: Regularly pinch back growing tips to encourage bushiness and more flower production.
2. Repotting: Repot every 1-2 years in spring, as needed, to refresh the soil and provide room for root growth.
3. Pest Control: Monitor for pests like spider mites, aphids, and mealybugs. Treat promptly if detected.
4. Dormancy: It may benefit from a rest period with reduced watering and cooler temperatures in winter, although it is not fully deciduous.

Uses:
- Indoor Plant: Ideal for bright indoor locations with indirect sunlight.
- Containers: Suitable for containers and hanging baskets, where its cascading growth habit and attractive foliage can be showcased.
- Landscaping: Can be grown outdoors in mild climates as a bedding plant or in shaded garden areas.

Challenges:
- Susceptible to Root Rot: Ensure good drainage to prevent root rot.
- Pest Prone: Watch for common begonia pests, particularly indoors.

Fun Facts:
- Origin: Begonia coccinea is native to Brazil and is a popular species among begonia enthusiasts.
- Hybrids: 'Medora' is a cultivated variety, selected for its specific traits like leaf coloration and flower size.
