Gymnocalcyium Mihonavichii

Gymnocalycium mihanovichii is a unique, small cactus native to South America, primarily found in regions of Argentina, Paraguay, and Uruguay. It is commonly known for its brightly colored, often pink or red, top that contrasts against the green body.

Plant Description:
This cactus is characterized by its spherical to slightly columnar shape, with distinctive ribs that form a spiny surface. The top of the plant, known as the scion, is often grafted onto a different cactus species (typically Hylocereus), which gives it its vibrant color. The scion is typically a bright pink, red, or yellow, and the plant has small, white spines along the ribs. The base of the plant remains green and uncolored, providing a contrast to the colorful top.

Grow Zone:
Gymnocalycium mihanovichii thrives in USDA hardiness zones 10-11. It prefers warm, sunny environments and is sensitive to frost.

Height and Width:
This cactus typically grows to about 3 to 4 inches in height and 3 to 5 inches in diameter. Its compact size makes it an ideal plant for small spaces or as a decorative potted plant.

Uses:
It is primarily used as an ornamental plant due to its striking appearance. It is often seen in gardens, rockeries, and as a houseplant. Its vibrant colors make it popular in decorative arrangements and cactus collections.

Native Range:
