Gerbera Garvinea 'Majestic Burg' is a striking variety of Gerbera with rich, deep burgundy-red flowers. This cultivar is part of the Garvinea series, known for being more robust and disease-resistant compared to traditional Gerbera daisies. The flowers are large, showy, and daisy-like, making it an excellent choice for both garden beds and containers. Its foliage is glossy and attractive, providing a bold contrast to the blooms. 'Majestic Burg' thrives in mild climates and is a popular choice for adding color to both indoor and outdoor settings.

Height and Width:

  • Height: 12–18 inches (30–45 cm)
  • Width: 12–18 inches (30–45 cm)

USDA Grow Zones:

  • Zones 9-11: Perennial
  • Zones 3-8: Can be grown as an annual or brought indoors during colder months

Growing Conditions:

  • Light: Full sun (at least 6 hours of direct sunlight daily)
  • Soil: Well-draining, fertile soil with a slightly acidic to neutral pH (6.0-7.0)
  • Water: Regular watering, keeping the soil consistently moist but not soggy. Gerberas prefer well-drained soil, so avoid over-watering to prevent root rot.
  • Fertilizer: Feed every 3-4 weeks with a balanced, water-soluble fertilizer to promote strong growth and abundant blooms.

Planting Instructions:

  1. Timing: Plant in the spring after the last frost, or start seeds indoors about 6-8 weeks before the last frost.
  2. Spacing: Space plants about 12-18 inches apart to allow for spreading growth.
  3. Maintenance: Deadhead regularly to encourage continuous blooming. Remove damaged or yellowing leaves and stems to keep the plant healthy. During the winter months, mulch the base to protect it from cold temperatures.

Uses:

  • Ideal for garden beds, borders, and container plantings.
  • Great for cut flowers, adding a touch of vibrant color to floral arrangements.
  • Perfect for adding bold, tropical flair to mixed containers and patios.
  • Excellent for landscape beds in warmer climates or for adding color to areas with full sun.

Native Range:

Gerbera daisies are native to South Africa, though the Garvinea series, including 'Majestic Burg', was developed to perform better in a variety of climates, making it suitable for both garden beds and containers in different growing zones.
