Fuchsia ‘Eruption’ is a striking, trailing hybrid cultivar prized for its vivid, tubular, magenta-pink flowers that bloom prolifically from spring through fall. The blooms are long and elegant, dangling in clusters that attract hummingbirds and butterflies. The foliage is a lush medium green, providing a vibrant backdrop for the blossoms. ‘Eruption’ is particularly well-suited for hanging baskets and containers due to its cascading habit.
Grow Zone:
USDA Zones 9–11. Can be grown as an annual or overwintered indoors in cooler zones.
Height and Width:
Typically reaches 12–18 inches in height and spreads up to 24 inches or more as it trails.
Uses:
Ideal for hanging baskets, window boxes, elevated containers, and mixed annual plantings. Its weeping habit makes it a standout in vertical arrangements or as a spiller in container designs.
Native Range:
While the Fuchsia genus is native to Central and South America, ‘Eruption’ is a cultivated hybrid and not found in the wild.
Sun Requirements:
Prefers partial shade to filtered sun. In hotter climates, it performs best with morning sun and afternoon shade to avoid leaf scorch and heat stress.
Water Requirements:
Requires consistently moist but well-drained soil. Do not allow the soil to dry out completely. In containers, water frequently during hot weather but ensure good drainage to prevent root rot.
