Crossandra 'Apricot Sun' is a tropical evergreen shrub known for its glossy green leaves and soft apricot-orange blooms that appear in loose clusters above the foliage. The flowers have a ruffled, almost crepe-paper texture and bloom continuously in warm conditions, bringing a soft yet vibrant touch to shady spots. It is valued for its compact growth habit and ability to flower even in lower light areas.
Grow Zone:
USDA Zones 9–11. Can be grown as a houseplant or annual in cooler zones.
Height and Width:
Typically reaches 12 to 18 inches tall and spreads 12 to 16 inches wide.
Uses:
Excellent for containers, shaded garden beds, borders, and as an indoor flowering plant. Adds tropical flair to patios, porches, or sunrooms.
Native Range:
Native to southern India and Sri Lanka.
Sun Requirements:
Prefers partial shade to filtered sun. Can tolerate full morning sun but needs protection from intense afternoon rays.
Water Requirements:
Moderate to high water needs. Likes consistently moist, well-drained soil. Avoid letting the soil dry out completely or become waterlogged. Humid conditions enhance performance.
