Coreopsis UpTick™ Red PP# 33866
Coreopsis UpTick™ Red PP# 33866
Plant name: Coreopsis UpTick™ Red PP#33866
Scientific name: Coreopsis hybrid ‘Baluptrede’ PP#33866
Plant description:
Coreopsis UpTick™ Red is a compact, free-flowering tickseed bred for strong branching, uniform growth, and consistent color. This herbaceous perennial forms a tight, mounded plant that maintains a clean outline through the growing season. Its controlled size and steady bloom production make it suitable for borders, containers, and mass plantings where reliable performance is essential.
Flower description:
Flowers are rich, velvety red with a slightly darker central eye, forming classic daisy-like blooms held above the foliage. The color remains saturated through heat and extended bloom cycles. Plants flower continuously from late spring into fall under favorable conditions, providing sustained visual impact and attracting pollinators.
Leaf description:
Foliage is fine-textured, narrow, and medium green. Leaves form a dense mound that contrasts with the bold flower color while maintaining a refined appearance. The plant retains its shape without becoming leggy when grown in full sun.
Deciduous or evergreen:
Herbaceous perennial that dies back in winter in colder climates and resumes growth with seasonal warmth.
USDA grow zones:
USDA Zones 5–9.
Mature height and width:
Approximately 10–12 inches tall and 12–14 inches wide, forming a compact, rounded clump.
Landscape uses:
Well suited for edging, perennial borders, pollinator gardens, patio containers, and mass color plantings. Its compact habit allows it to fit into small garden spaces while still delivering strong color. Works effectively in combination with ornamental grasses and other sun-loving perennials.
Native range:
Coreopsis species are native to North America; this cultivar is a horticultural hybrid selected for ornamental performance.
Sun exposure:
Performs best in full sun. Adequate sunlight supports dense growth, abundant blooms, and rich flower color. Light shade may reduce flowering and plant compactness.
Water requirements:
Prefers well-drained soil and moderate watering. Once established, it tolerates short dry periods but produces the most consistent blooms when moisture levels remain even. Avoid heavy, waterlogged soils.
Pests and problems:
Generally resistant to most pests and diseases. Occasional issues may include aphids or powdery mildew in areas with poor airflow. Good spacing and drainage help maintain plant health.
Heat and sun tolerance: Cold tolerance:
Exhibits strong heat tolerance and maintains flower color during warm weather. Cold hardy within its recommended zones, with foliage dying back after frost and regrowing from the crown in spring.
Growing tips:
Plant in well-drained soil with good air circulation. Light trimming after heavy bloom flushes can encourage additional flowering and maintain a compact shape. Avoid excessive fertilization, which can reduce bloom production and cause soft growth. Position near the front of beds or in containers where the deep red flowers can provide continuous seasonal color.
