Aglaonema Maria, commonly known as Chinese Evergreen, is a popular houseplant known for its attractive, variegated leaves and ease of care.

 Growing Conditions

Light - Indirect Light: Aglaonema Maria prefers bright, indirect light but can tolerate lower light conditions. Avoid direct sunlight as it can scorch the leaves.

Temperature - Ideal Range: 65-80°F (18-27°C). Keep above 60°F (15°C). Avoid cold drafts and sudden temperature changes.

Humidity - Moderate to High: Prefers humidity levels of 60-70%. Consider using a humidity tray or room humidifier if your home is dry.

Soil - Well-Draining Soil: Use a peat-based potting mix with good drainage. You can also use a mix specifically formulated for houseplants.

Watering - Consistent Moisture: Keep the soil consistently moist but not soggy. Water thoroughly when the top inch of soil feels dry. Reduce watering in the winter when the plant’s growth slows.

Fertilization - Balanced Fertilizer: Feed every 4-6 weeks during the growing season (spring and summer) with a balanced, water-soluble fertilizer diluted to half strength. Do not fertilize in the winter.

Potting and Repotting

Repotting: Repot every 2-3 years or when the plant outgrows its pot. Choose a pot that is 1-2 inches larger in diameter than the current one.

Minimal Pruning: Prune to remove any yellow or dead leaves to keep the plant looking its best.

Pests and Problems

Common Pests: Watch for common houseplant pests such as spider mites, mealybugs, and aphids. Treat infestations promptly with insecticidal soap or neem oil.

Diseases: Overwatering can lead to root rot. Ensure the plant is in well-draining soil and avoid waterlogging.

Growing Zones

Hardiness Zones: Aglaonema Maria is best suited for USDA hardiness zones 10-12 if grown outdoors. However, it is typically grown as an indoor plant in most regions.
