Speaker : Linda March
Topic : Taking Care of You and Your Plants During The Summer Months
Biography :
Linda March is a licensed horticulturist, licensed nursery grower, and owner of The Boho Being and sister company, Gulf Coast Greenscapes, LLC. For over 30 years, Linda has practiced gardening and living a sustainable lifestyle through methods of growing and preserving her food, and establishing a small family homestead. Linda's interest in homesteading is inspired by her family's history of living off the land. Linda spent her formative years assisting her father on his commercial shrimp boat, working as a deckhand during the summer months, and her winters hunting. Spring and fall were spent gardening vegetables alongside her parents. For her 10th birthday, she asked for an unusual gift for a child her age: Chickens. This journey of exploration and learning provided Linda with a unique insight into the benefits of a continual connection to nature. Today, Linda shares her connection with others in a continued effort to bring awareness to the opportunity for others to grow their food and manage their outdoor ecosystems.

Questions And Answers

What is the Green(ish) Thumb Club? The Green(ish) Thumb Club was started in 2023 by Julie Wood and Linda March as a fun way to unite plant enthusiasts who share a common interest in gardening. The name Green(ish) Thumb was chosen because, as Linda often says, we all struggle growing certain plants, and having a green thumb isn't required. Like many gardeners, you can be on the "ish" side.

Do I have to pay to be a member? Absolutely not! The only time we will ever ask for a fee is if we are doing special projects where materials are needed in order to participate. Otherwise, everything we do is free.

Do I need to bring a plant? If you woud like to participate in the swap, yes. If you only want to participate in the lecture, you do not need to bring a plant.

Do seeds or cuttings qualify as a "plant"?  No. Plants should have roots and be in soil.

Can I bring my children? Children tend to get anxious and bored during lectures. For this reason, we ask that these swaps be adult-only until we can arrange for a children's swap.

I have a cool topic I want to present. Who do I talk to? If you have a gardening or nature topic you're passionate about and want to share, we would love to have you as a guest speaker! Please contact Linda at The Boho Being, 985-707-1623.
