Chamomile Tea Benefits

Chamomile is part of the Asteraceae plant family and has been consumed for centuries for numerous different ailments. Making the tea is as simple as steeping dried chamomile flowers in hot water for several minutes, and then enjoying the many benefits it has to offer! Here are a few of the many benefits of chamomile tea.

1. Chamomile tea is a caffeine-free alternative.

2. Chamomile contains antioxidants that may help lower the risks of contracting heart disease.

3. Chamomile contains a certain antioxidant called apigenin. This antioxidant binds itself to receptors in your brain that helps promote healthy sleep cycles and over all lift feelings of depression/anxiety.

4. Studies show that chamomile can help calm digestive discomfort, feelings of nausea, gas build up, and reduce the pain of stomach ulcers.

5. The anti-inflammatory properties of chamomile can help reduce blood sugar levels in the body.

6. Chamomile may improve heart health. This herb is packed with flavones, a different kind of antioxidant that can not only help lower blood sugar levels but cholesterol levels too, which greatly contributes to the health of your heart. 

7. Chamomile  also boosts the immune system and is used to help treat the common cold or a sore throat.
